Kimana, an earthly man, dreams of marrying the Sky Maiden, a heavenly woman. He seeks the help of Rabbit, Antelope, and Hawk to communicate with the Sun Chief, Sky Maiden's father. But they all refuse.Frog, who lives by a well, helps him by hiding his letter asking for the Sky Maiden's hand in marriage. The girls who serve the Sun Chief approach the well to fetch water and sing. In the meantime, Frog jumps into one of the jugs lowered by the girls and reaches Heaven with them.

The Sun Chief finds the letter and reads it to the girls who work for him. When the girls respond negatively, he asks his wife, the Moon Lady. She tells him to Inquire their daughter, who requests a wedding gift. The Sun Chief asks for a purse of money as the bride price. The next day, Frog  carries the purse to Heaven with the girls. The Sky Maiden now expects Kimana to come to Heaven and fetch her

Frog returns to earth through empty jugs and conveys the message. Kimana refuses to go to Heaven to fetch the Sky Maiden and pleads Frog to do the job again.Frog reaches Heaven again with the girls and spits in all the jugs of water, and the residents of Heaven become ill. The spirit doctor informs the Sun Chief that Kimana has sent an evil spirit in the form of a frog as the Sun Chief did not give his daughter to him in marriage

The evil spirit is banished to Heaven, and the Sky Maiden decides to go to Eart with the girls.. The next day, the girls and Sky Maiden visit the well and Frog emerges, promising to guide her to her spouse. The Sky Maiden expresses her wish to marry Frog, as he took the letter, brought money, and fetched her to earth. The frog marries the Sky Maiden and leaves for Heaven permanently, while Kimara waits for his bride who never returns.
